My sister is suffering from what the doctor
has called cystic acne. It is large and very painful bumps that range in
color from purple to red and never actually fill up with bacteria, like normal
acne. She has been taking amoxicillan for 5 years. This seems to help
however, she wants to concieve. She is now off of the medication and
covered in these cysts, not only on her face but her back as well. She has been to several iridologists and
homeopaths, but nothing is working. They put her on several herbal
remedies.
iridologists, homeopaths and dermatologists:
Seeing a dermatologist who put her on amoxicillin for
five years, maybe she should find another dermatologist. Antibiotics
should be used more judiciously and sparingly than that. If a chronic
problem doesn't stay cured after a month or two of antibiotic treatment,
the only thing we are doing now is breeding critters in your sister that
can resist amoxycillin, not treating the underlying cause of her chronic
problem. It's like putting a band-aid on the belly of someone whose
intestines are bleeding: it only looks like someone is trying to solve
the problem.
Chronic problems are sometimes suited to a natural wholistic approach,
but never discount that you should use every method available to help
cure cyctic acne - including going to a medical doctor, little
though I like to suggest it. You might be surprised at the generally
sound advice a good dermatologist can give. If you can go to a
dermatologist who is also an internist, all the better.
Likewise, this doesn't mean you should completely drop all wholistic
methods. Just keep all of her doctors aware of what my sister doing on all
fronts. If the doctor gets an attitude about it, it's time to change
doctors.
I also consider seeing a food-allergy specialist and / or a environmental
sickness specialist either / both of which is/are also doctors
